Humility and Courage

 

Leading Edge partners have witnessed first hand what happens when fundamental truths are vilified or discarded. It is so hard to rebuild with the rubble left over after the destruction of Central Europe and Eurasia after the ideologies of Modernism, Fascism and Communism collided. More than lives and buildings were shattered. The existence of truth was under assault. And righteousness does not persist without a solid foundation of commonly accepted truth.

Rebuilding trust after relationships are broken and learning to love in shattered communities starts when individuals face their God. Who is He? Does He care? What is truth? Were the statements made in the Bible reliable? Can we trust Jesus' promise to bring eternal life if the Christians who claim to have it don't act any differently than those who don't believe?

​

We have seen that to restore a community many must first humbly sacrifice their own best interest for the sake of others. Even in the worst of times a few were courageous enough, like the characters of a Solzhenitsyn novel, to step up as heroes and make the sacrifice to really "love their neighbor." Sadly, when integrity itself was destroyed by so many lies and so much corruption, sacrifices often went unnoticed and unrewarded. But when many speak truth to power and many commit acts of love, community is restored.

At Leading Edge we do believe that the truths of our Creed are crucial for rebuilding community. When on the foundation of this faith are laid thousands of "stones" of loving acts that are bound with the "mortar" of hundreds of kept promises, true community will be restored.

We believe...

 

GOD

We believe in one God, the Creator, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, Who was and remains true God and true man.

We believe in the Holy Spirit proceeding from the Father and sent by the Son.

 

MAN

We believe that Man was created by God, in His own image as a moral, rational and significant being, and in His likeness with true knowledge, righteousness, holiness and dominion over creation. God called Man to manifest and reflect holiness through obedience to His commandments, which are an expression of His holy character.

We believe that Man lost his spiritual life when Adam and Eve sinned, whereby Man entered into a state of moral corruption and alienation from his Creator, and thus God justly condemned all humanity to eternal death.

 

REDEMPTION

We believe that because of His profound love for His creation, God initiated a plan of redemption, which He has accomplished on behalf of His people in space and in time through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

We believe that Jesus Christ, through His historic death for our sins as a voluntary, substitutionary sacrifice, and his bodily resurrection, has provided the sole basis of our justification, which is received as a free gift of God's grace by faith alone. Those who receive the Lord Jesus Christ are spiritually regenerated by the indwelling Holy Spirit, who also preserves them for eternal life and operates for their sanctification.

We believe that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, lives today as our High Priest and Advocate, and rules as Lord and absolute King over all creation. We expect His imminent and personal return will initiate the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust for final judgment culminating in the everlasting enjoyment of God in His presence for the redeemed and the everlasting punishment of the lost along with Satan and the other fallen angels. Upon His return Jesus will renew the heavens and the earth.

 

WORD OF GOD

We receive the Bible in its entirety and the Bible alone as divine revelation: the inspired and inerrant Word of God in written form. We submit to the supreme and final authority of Holy Scripture, acknowledging that it carries the full weight of our Lord's authority.

 

PEOPLE OF GOD

We believe that the Holy Spirit gathers together the people of God, unites them in love and empowers them to serve God. Each person who believes has immediate and direct access to the presence of God and is directly responsible to love and obey God. All the people of God, living and dead, who believe in Christ make up a spiritual organism, the Church. The Church embraces Biblical truth, assembles to worship the true God, exercises discipline, administers the sacraments and bears witness of the Kingdom of God by words and deeds.
